PRESIDENT'S DUGOUT:
Messages and news from the DETBA Board President.
[April 21, 2010] - Now that the season underway, the DETBA board is
putting the final touches of the season together.  At our next meeting,
we will be discussing details about our World Series Tournament and
our fall calender.

For our Spring World Series, the board considering completing the
tournament in a single weekend.  This will require extra help and
cooperation, and the need for teams to play earlier and later on both
days, but will also offer benefits. This will enable us to have an extra
weekend in case of rain.  Also, as some already know, most area All
Star Tournaments start on or around the second or third weekend in
June. We do not want a conflict with these kinds of activities if we can
avoid it.

In the coming weeks, announcements will be made regarding our fall
calender dates for registration and schedule.  I would like to encourage
all 14U coaches to keep DETBA in mind this fall for our HS/JV Fall
Season.  This is an important part of continuing our support of baseball
in East Texas and of our local high school teams. Please check with
your area coaches to help spread the word about this playing opportunity.

Thanks to everyone for your support and let us know if you want to
help out with keeping DETBA the best in select baseball.

Sincerely,
Paul Harris
President - DETBA
[APRIL 3, 2010] - I just wanted to take the time to thank all those
teams that helped make the 2010 Spring Season Kickoff Tournament
a huge success.  We will continue to make the effort to bring this
type of tournament to you in the future.

The Memorial Day tournament is looking favorable for a location in
the Tyler area.  We are looking for the first (5) teams to fill an age
bracket to guarantee a spot in this limited participation tournament.
Will use the same format as we did in the Spring Kickoff Tournament
as far as cost, baseballs and trophies.  Down the road for this Fall,
the board will look into possibility of having a Fall Kickoff Tournament
to compliment our Spring Event.

Also coming in early May, our High School/Junior Varsity program
will kickoff.  All teams looking for sign up for this session need to
act very soon.  Our Fall HS/JV session had a total of 25 teams a
nd we concluded the season with a tournament for each division
at Marshall and Lindale.  DETBA will continue to support baseball
from ages 8-14 and all the way thru High School to make sure
East Texas will continue to pump out quality baseball players
to our local High Schools.

As you all know, the season is now upon us and we are looking
forward to a great season.  Make sure you pay close attention to
the website.  We will continue to post important information for both
coaches and parents.  Again, thanks for helping us making
DETBA successful with your support.

Sincerely,
Paul Harris
